Sunday’s storm activity in north central Arkansas led to reports of large hail, downed trees and multiple power outages. As of 6 Sunday evening, there were no local reports of structural damage.
The largest area report of hail was in Searcy County. Grapefruit-size hail was spotted at Thola and measured with a diameter of 4 1/2 inches. Searcy County also had a report of teacup-size hail with stones measuring three inches in diameter.
There were also two reports of teacup-size hail in Stone County. Hail stones estimated at three inches in diameter were spotted at Mountain View and Timbo.
Multiple trees were reported to be down in Izard County. According to a source on the National Weather Service chatroom, Stone County dispatch paged the Allison-Sylamore Volunteer Fire Department to assist Izard County with the downed trees on Arkansas Highway 9.
Several outages have been reported from the storms. At 6:15 Monday morning, Entergy Arkansas had 742 customers in Stone County and 120 in Izard County without power. Power to all members of North Arkansas Electric Cooperative has been restored.
