The latest unemployment numbers from the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services and the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center show June’s unemployment rates in most counties in north central Arkansas and southern Missouri have increased from May.
In Baxter County, the rate rose from 2.7% in May to 3.3% in June. Baxter County’s rate is tied for the 29th lowest out of Arkansas’ 75 counties. There are 560 unemployed Baxter County residents out of a work force of 16,813.
Marion County’s rate increased from 2.9% in May to 3.8% in June, ranking it as tied for the 50th lowest in the state. Marion County has 246 residents out of work from a work force of 6,402.
Fulton County’s unemployment rate went up from 2.9% in May to 3.3% in June, which means they are tied for the 29th lowest rate in the state. Fulton County has a labor force of 5,174 and 173 unemployed.
The unemployment rate in Izard County rose from 3.9% in May to 5.3% in June, which is tied for number 72 in Arkansas. There are 235 Izard County residents unemployed out of a work force of 4,439.
In Stone County, the rate increased from 3.2% in May to 3.8% in June. That ranks Stone County tied for 50th out of 75 counties. There are 4,626 in the labor force in Stone County with 178 unemployed.
Searcy County’s unemployment rate went up to 4% in June from 3.3% in May, ranking them 59th in Arkansas. There are 121 people unemployed in Searcy County out of a work force of 3,010.
Boone County saw an increase from 2.3% in May to 2.9% in June, putting them in a tie for the 14th lowest rate in the state. Boone County has a work force of 16,277 with 466 out of work.
Newton County is tied for the state’s 17th lowest unemployment rate at 3%, up from 2.4% the previous month. Newton County has a labor force of 3,275 with 99 of those unemployed.
Arkansas’s unemployed rate in June was 2.6%, down from 2.7% the previous month.
In southern Missouri, Ozark County’s rate stands at 4.2%, up from 3.8% in May. Ozark County has 152 unemployed out of a work force of 3,602.
Douglas County saw its rate go from 3.1% in May to 3.4% in June. In Douglas County, the labor force is 5,337, and there are 180 out of work.
Howell County had a increase, going from 3.5% to 4.1% in June. Howell County has work force of 16,345 with 667 unemployed.
Taney County’s rate rose from 3.5% in May to 3.6% in June. There are 1,023 unemployed in Taney County out of a labor force of 28,126.
Missouri’s rate increased from 2.9% in May to 3.3% in June.
