An Izard County man who led deputies on a high speed chase with a juvenile in the vehicle has been arrested.
According to the probable cause affidavit, an Izard County Sheriff’s Office deputy initiated at traffic stop on Aug. 19 for speeding and traffic infractions in Melbourne. The vehicle refused to stop and began fleeing at speeds in excess of 80-100 miles per hour. The deputy pursued the vehicle, driven by 23-year-old Adrian Black, through narrow residential streets inside the city limits before he left the public roadway and began traveling down a private drive into livestock fields on private land.
Deputies located Black at the end of a dead-end road. Once they made contact, they discovered another adult and juvenile in the vehicle with him. During a search, deputies located a half-full container of beer sitting in the driver’s side cupholder, three unopened beers in the passenger’s seat, two loaded handgun magazines in the console along with a handgun in the back seat.
During a field sobriety test, Black agreed to take a breath test which yielded a blood alcohol limit of .141, well above the legal limit.
Black is facing one felony county of fleeing and misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, driving while intoxicated and possession of an open contain containing alcohol. He was released from the Izard County Detention Center on $15,000 bond.
