The latest unemployment numbers from the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services and the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center show July’s unemployment rates in most counties in north central Arkansas and southern Missouri have increased from June.
In Baxter County, the rate rose from 3.3% in June to 3.5% in July. Baxter County’s rate is tied for the 23rd lowest out of Arkansas’ 75 counties. There are 599 unemployed Baxter County residents out of a work force of 17,152.
Marion County’s rate increased from 3.8% in June to 4.2% in July, ranking it as tied for the 53rd lowest in the state. Marion County has 262 residents out of work from a work force of 6,311.
Fulton County’s unemployment rate went up from 3.3% in June to 4% in July, which means they are tied for the 47th lowest rate in the state. Fulton County has a labor force of 4,540 and 182 unemployed.
The unemployment rate in Izard County rose from 5.3% in June to 5.5% in July, which is ranked as number 71 out of 75 counties in Arkansas. There are 240 Izard County residents unemployed out of a work force of 4,346.
In Stone County, the rate increased from 3.8% in June to 4% in July. That ranks Stone County tied for 47th in the state. There are 4,579 in the labor force in Stone County with 182 unemployed.
Searcy County’s unemployment rate went up to 4.6% in July from 4% in June, ranking them tied for 60th in Arkansas. There are 129 people unemployed in Searcy County out of a work force of 2,781.
Boone County saw an increase from 2.9% in June to 3.1% in July, putting them in a tie for the 12th lowest rate in the state. Boone County has a work force of 15,828 with 498 out of work.
Newton County is tied for the state’s 27th lowest unemployment rate at 3.6%, up from 3% the previous month. Newton County has a labor force of 3,207 with 129 of those unemployed.
Arkansas’s unemployed rate in July was 2.6%, the same as the previous month.
In southern Missouri, Ozark County’s rate stands at 5.1%, up from 4.2% in June. Ozark County has 168 unemployed out of a work force of 3,298.
Douglas County saw its rate go from 3.4% in June to 3.3% in July. In Douglas County, the labor force is 5,123, and there are 168 out of work.
Howell County had an increase, going from 4.1% to 4.4% in July. Howell County has work force of 15,852 with 692 unemployed.
Taney County’s rate stayed the same at 3.6% in July. There are 1,019 unemployed in Taney County out of a labor force of 28,102.
Missouri’s rate increased from 3.3% in June to 3.4% in July.
