A Baxter County woman has been arrested for allegedly stealing money from an elderly man she provided home care for. One felony charge of financial identity fraud of an elderly victim has been filed against 33-year-old April Elizabeth Spatafora of Clarkridge.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the 85-year-old victim told investigators unauthorized charges were made to his Amazon and Paypal accounts. Twelve transactions were made between April and August this year totaling nearly $788. The victim states the Paypal account was established using his banking credentials, but he had no knowledge of it.
Spatafora was a home caregiver for the victim who would order household items using the victim’s account.
Documents show female clothing, shoes and gift cards were ordered and delivered to Spatafora’s residence in Clarkridge and her parent’s former house south of Mountain Home. Direct payments were also made to Spatafora.
Spatafora is free after posting $10,000 bond.
