MH Cross Country faces challenges at Sloan Hendrix River Run

On Tuesday the Mountain Home Cross Country teams travelled to Pocahontas to take part in the Sloan-Hendrix River Run and faced challenges on a course that featured rugged terrain, hills and tough footing.The Junior Lady Bombers placed 3rd as a team with Cisily Goettler finishing seventh with a time of 11:36 and Callie Kohler finishing twelveth with a time of 12:08. The Junior Bombers got the win scoring 80 to Valley View’s 82 with Wave Simmons placing second with a time of 9:22 and Finley Maxey placing eighth with a time of 9:43. The HS Bomber team earned a respectable second place behind Searcy with Zach Daugherty placing thirteenth with a time of 21:03 and Kohler Matthews posting fourteenth with a time of 21:17. The HS Lady Bombers saw Halie Chandler place 19th with a time of 28:44 and Massey Everett placing 26th with a time of 30:36.

Coach Will Norris says about the event. “Given the challenging course and warm weather, today was a great day to focus on race executiion. Today was full of learning opportunities and it certainly hardened us.”
