Lemond hits for cycle to lead ASUMH past Crowder College in 16-inning fall scrimmage

Sammy Lemond was able to hit for the cycle on Tuesday to lead Arkansas State University-Mountain Home’s baseball team in a 16-inning fall scrimmage. The Trailblazers were able to get past Crowder College 19-18.

Lemond hit a home run over the left field fence in the sixth inning, doubled in the seventh and the 10th, singled in the ninth and tripled in the 12th. Lemond also walked twice and drove in five runs.

ASU-Mountain Home collected 19 hits on the day, and the Roughriders had 20. Crowder jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning and added a run in the third on a fielder’s choice. The Roughriders were up 10-8 after scoring on an error in the sixth.

The Blazers jumped into the lead in the top of the eighth when Kolby Webb hit an RBI double, and Westynn Pschier drove in a run on a walk. ASU-Mountain Home drove in a couple more runs and retook the lead in the ninth when Webb was struck by a pitch, Chris Tillery hit into a fielder’s choice.

Deuce Yaksick was the Blazers’ starting pitcher. He went two innings, struck out two batters and allowed five hits, a walk and five runs (two earned). CK Tengler, Braden Campbell, Mason Lemons, Alex Thrasher, Isaac House, Brayton Davis, Trey Jordan and John White each threw shutout innings for ASU-Mountain Home. Alex Harrell, Tillery and Pschier each collected multiple hits for the Blazers.
