On Wednesday, Owens Corning, a global building and construction materials leader, has broken ground on its new manufacturing facility in Russellville.

According to a release from the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, the facility is expected to create 50 new jobs over two years.

Rodney Wideman, vice president and general manager of Foam Insulation at Owens Corning states, “This new plant and today’s groundbreaking ceremony represents Owens Corning’s commitment to our customers’ growth and the Russellville community. Expanding Owens Corning’s Foamular® NGX™ insulation production with this new facility will advance our ability to create sustainable solutions in the building materials industry and better serve the growing needs of our customers. We are proud to be a part of the Russellville community and look forward to growing together. Owens Corning appreciates the support provided by Governor Sanders, Mayor Teague, the Arkansas Economic Development Commission, and the Russellville Area Chamber of Commerce throughout the planning process.”

Announced in February 2023, this is the company’s first facility in Russellville, and the company’s third expansion in two years in Arkansas. Owens Corning has operated in Fort Smith, Arkansas since 1985 and expanded the facility twice since 2021.

Governor Sanders states, “I am proud to welcome a great American company like Owens Corning to Russellville. They’ve maintained a robust footprint in the Natural State for nearly forty years and as we expand Arkansas’ economy through commonsense, pro-business policies, we expect manufacturers like Owens Corning to grow right alongside the rest of our state.”

The Russellville manufacturing facility is expected to be operational by 2025. The facility will produce Foamular® NGX™ extruded polystyrene (XPS) insulation for applications spanning commercial and residential buildings.

“It’s an honor to join leaders from Owens Corning and the community of Russellville as the company breaks ground on their new 150,000-square-foot facility,” said Clint O’Neal, executive director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission. “We are grateful for Owens Corning’s ongoing commitment to the Natural State, and we look forward to their continued success for years to come.”

Following the groundbreaking ceremony, Owens Corning awarded grants to multiple community organizations in Russellville.

“The City of Russellville is proud to extend a warm welcome to Owens Corning as a valued community partner creating new jobs for our citizens and bringing their esteemed global reputation as leaders in building and construction materials,” said Russellville Mayor Fred Teague. “We, as a community, share common goals with Owens Corning to help improve the quality of place and quality of life for those in our community. We are honored they have selected our city for their expansion in Arkansas.”

“The Chamber is thrilled to welcome Owens Corning to our community, bringing with them 50 new, good paying jobs, a new 150,000-square-foot facility, and a $60 million investment in Russellville,” said Dr. Megan Selman, president and CEO of the Russellville Area Chamber of Commerce. “I am proud to say Owens Corning, a Fortune 500 company, chose Russellville after a nationwide search. Partnering with a company of prestige, such as Owens Corning, proves Russellville can compete on a national scale. Our workforce is strong, our economy is competitive, our location is prime, and our quality of life is outstanding.
