An Ozark County child suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident Friday afternoon in Gainesville. The unidentified six-year-old from Wasola was transported by ambulance to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the minor was a passenger in an SUV driven by 26-year-old Whitney Maggard of Wasola on Missouri Highway 5. A van, driven on First Street by 73-year-old Darlene Hetrick of Gainesville, reportedly failed to yield at the intersection and struck the SUV in its side.

Maggard and Hetrick both avoided injury. The report indicates neither the child nor Hetrick were wearing safety devices.

Both vehicles had moderate damage in the 12:35 p.m. accident.
