The Bomber boys were able to get past the Goblins 65-57 in overtime. It was a game that had the making of being a back-and-forth battle, and it didn’t disappoint with 10 lead changes and seven ties. Mountain Home did look like they might be in trouble as Harrison went on an 11-0 run in the third quarter. The Bombers fought back and exchanged the lead a few times with the Goblins. The game was tied at 55 inside the final minute of regulation. Dewey missed a fadeaway just outside the lane, but Mountain Home got the offensive rebound, and with the shot clock off, they were able to hold for the final shot. Blaine Tate’s layup attempt was a little too strong. Harrison got the rebound, and their last-second heave fell short. Nearly halfway through overtime, the Goblins took a 57-56 lead on a layup by Cole Cecil, but those were the only two points they would get in the extra period. Later, the Bombers got another crucial offensive board after Tate missed a pair of free throws. Tate made up for it by finding Drew Haney for a layup that would put Mountain Home on top for good, and on the ensuing play, he came up with a steal in the backcourt, hit a layup, drew a foul and converted an old-fashioned three. Rhett Gilbert had a couple more layups, and the Bombers went on to win by eight.

Gilbert led Mountain Home with 17 points, McGee Harris scored 16, and Tate added 11. Ryder Scribner had 28 points for Harrison, Hayden Martin provided 13, and Cole Cecil chipped in 12.

The Bombers improve to 14-4 on the season and 2-0 in the 5A-West. The Goblins fall to 12-6 and 0-2.

The evening began with Mountain Home dominating Harrison 48-26 in the girls’ game. For much of the first half, the Lady Bombers had to rely on Anna McCarn’s height to get layups and offensive putbacks around the basket because they were struggling with their shots outside the paint. However, it wasn’t any better for the Lady Goblins as they didn’t score their first field goal until the third quarter. Mountain Home continued to dominate as the mercy rule went into effect the moment the final period started, and they went on to beat Harrison by 22.

The Lady Bombers were led by McCarn with 14 points, and Jayla Yonkers finished with 12. No one was in double figures for the Lady Goblins.

Mountain Home is now 13-5 on the year and 2-0 in the league. Harrison drops to 7-9 and 1-1.

Both Bomber teams are scheduled to have their first road test of the conference slate on Friday with a trip to Van Buren.

In other 5A-West girls’ action, Russellville breezed past Greenbrier 62-36, Alma defeated Siloam Springs 46-38, and Greenwood pounded Van Buren 65-34. On the boys’ side, Russellville got past Greenbrier 49-45, Alma topped Siloam Springs 60-49, and Van Buren beat up on Greenwood 68-45.
