An Arkansas State Police investigation into an October event has resulted in a Southern Arkansas Police Chief facing felony kidnapping charges.
45-year-old Eudora Police Chief Michael Henderson Pitts is facing charges related to 49-year-old John Hill Jr. claiming he was beaten and left on the side of a road after being arrested on October 26, 2023. Pitts was initially sent to remove Hill from the premises of Scott’s gas station but did not have adequate space in his patrol vehicle to arrest Hill for criminal trespassing, public intoxication, and terroristic threatening.
Later that evening, Pitts was able to confront and detain Hill. Once they reached the destination, Pitts grabbed Hill out of the vehicle and began to brutally assault him, leaving injuries to his face and head. He then left Hill stranded at the location.
Pitts was taken to the Chicot County Sheriff’s office and he was freed on a $5,000 bond. Pitts first court appearance was yesterday.
