The Arkansas State University-Mountain Home baseball team was able win its home opener on Friday. The Trailblazers defeated ASU-Three Rivers 18-8.
Offensively for ASU-Mountain Home, Sammy Lemond was 3-for-5 on the day with three runs, two RBIs and three stolen bases; Tristan Wheelus went 3-for-4, scored two runs and drove in another; Gabriel Ellison was 3-for-5 with a run and two RBIs; Christopher Tillery ended up 2-for-6 with a run, an RBI and two stolen bases; Jason Young went 2-for-3 and scored twice; and Joseph Coon hit a grand slam at his only plate appearance.
Several pitchers took the mound for the Blazers. Thomas Jordan and Ckyler Tengler each struck out three batters, and Alex Thrasher struck out two batters.
ASU-Mountain Home improves to 2-1 on the season, and they’ll host Henderson State on Monday.
