The second night of the 2A-1 District Tournament was held Thursday at Cotter.
On the boys’ side, the host school secured a regional tournament bid. In a battle between Warriors, Cotter defeated Life Way Christian 68-52.
In the other boys’ game, Ozark Mountain watched its season come to an end. The Bears were edged out by Haas Hall-Bentonville 74-71.
Ozark Mountain fared better on the girls’ bracket as they advanced to the semifinals. The Lady Bears invoked the mercy rule as they routed Eureka Springs 61-18.
The 1A-2 District Tournament held its semifinal round at West Side High School in Greers Ferry.
Norfork’s girls were able to advance to Saturday’s championship game. The top-seeded Lady Panthers topped Viola 57-39.
Norfork’s last opponent in the tournament will be Concord. Rural Special fell to the Lady Pirates by a final of 67-42.
Viola also got beat on the boys’ side of the tournament. The Longhorns were toppled by West Side 64-30.
Rural Special will be the host Eagles’ opponent in Saturday’s title game. The Rebels upset top-seeded Concord 73-51.
The semifinals of the 2A-2 District Tournament were played at Izard County High School in Brockwell.
The host Cougars ended up losing on the boys’ side to another area school. Izard County suffered a 56-47 defeat to Marshall. The Bobcats will face Sloan-Hendrix for the title on Saturday.
Izard County was also eliminated from the girls’ bracket. The Lady Cougars fell to Mount Vernon-Enola by a score of 66-52.
Marshall will be the Lady Warhawks’ opponent for the championship on Saturday. The Lady Bobcats beat Quitman 64-46.
Both of Mammoth Spring’s teams were victorious in the semifinals of the 1A-3 District Tournament at Crowley’s Ridge Academy in Paragould.
The Lady Bears put the mercy rule in effect as they pounded Maynard 77-34. Brynn Washam led Mammoth Spring with 24 points, Tay Davis scored 14, and Adrianna Corbett added 10.
The Mammoth Spring boys also advanced to Friday’s title game as they defeated Ridgefield Christian 66-44. The Bears were led by Caleb Michaels with 19 points, Blake Rogers had 18, and Garet O’Dell chipped in 13.
The semifinals of the 1A-1 East District Tournament were held at Jasper.
Lead Hill’s boys ended up losing to the host Pirates 56-47. Kaden Baker was the Tigers’ top scorer with 15 points, Coda Lemon provided 13 points, and Nicklas May grabbed 10 rebounds. Spencer Traywick paced Jasper with 19 points, Sawyer Willis finished with 13, and Malijah Campbell ended up with 10.
Omaha will be the Pirates’ opponent in Saturday’s title game. The Eagles squeaked by Kingston 59-55.
Omaha had a different result on the girls’ side. The Lady Eagles ended up falling to Kingston 56-48.
Jasper will be matched up with the Lady Yellowjackets for the championship on Saturday. The Lady Pirates topped Alpena 58-47.
Elsewhere, Gainesville’s girls wrapped up their regular season on a winning note. The Lady Bulldogs went on the road and defeated Conway 41-23.
Dora’s boys came up just short in their regular season finale. The Falcons lost to Houston 53-50.
