A prisoner being transported from the Ozark County Jail to the Douglas County Jail decided that’s not where he wanted to go, slipped out of his restraints and tried to escape from the transport van during the trip. Quick action by the deputy kept 33-year-old Jerimiah A. Love of Caulfield in custody.According to the probable cause affidavit, the deputy had stopped the van near the intersection of Missouri State Highways 5 and 95 after he noticed Love had slipped out of the hand restraints. The deputy restrained him again until a second deputy could arrive.
When they tried to get him out of the van, Love told the deputies he did not want to go to the Douglas County Jail and wanted to return to the Ozark County Jail.
Love had again taken off a secure belt and slipped a handcuff off while the transport van was parked. He also bent a metal door bracket in an attempt to escape.
Love is charged with a felony count of attempted escape. He is currently being held in the Douglas County Detention Center where he will have a bond hearing on Feb. 27. Love is currently being held on a $10,000 cash only bond.
