A former West Plains School District coach was sentenced last week for endangering a student in 2022.

According to court records, 43-year-old Christopher Taylor pled guilty to endangering the welfare of a child, a Class DD. felony. The judge sentenced Taylor to seven years in prison with five years probation, but delayed the prison sentence to allow Taylor to serve his probation time. If Taylor he stays out of trouble, he will not have to serve the seven years.

As a part of his probation, Taylor shall not be employed or volunteer as a coach, educator or teacher along with no contact with the victim directly or through a third party.

In 2022, Taylor was charged with sexual contact with a student, endangering the welfare of a child and child molestation. On February 21, the prosecutor dismissed two charges, sexual contact with a student and child molestation. In the probable cause affidavit, the victim stated she was assaulted by Taylor after a sporting event on January 27, 2022.

Taylor is no longer affiliated with or employed by the school district.
