The season came to an end Friday evening for the Mountain Home High School girls’ basketball team. The Lady Bombers suffered a 58-50 loss to Vilonia in the quarterfinals of the Class 5A State Tournament at Searcy.
The game was back and forth for much of the first half. The teams combined for eight lead changes and seven ties. The Lady Eagles went up for good in the third quarter. Mountain Home struggled with nine turnovers in the second half, and Vilonia went up double digits before posting the eight-point win.
Jayla Yonkers led the Lady Bombers with 14 points, Parker Huskey scored 13, and Laykin Moore added 12. For the Lady Eagles, Sidni Middleton had 23 points, and Lexi Heston chipped in 14.
Mountain Home’s final record is 23-9. Vilonia improves to 25-6, and they’ll meet Greene County Tech Saturday in the semifinals.
