Arkansas State Police are investigating an officer involved shooting that happened Friday in Eureka Springs.
This comes after Carroll County authorities received a 911 call from a local pub stating that 36-year-old Christopher Vanschoick had brandished a handgun during a disturbance. Two officers confronted Vanshock and during the struggle, Vanschoick allegedly pulled out his handgun. One of the officers fired his weapon, striking Vanschoick who was pronounced dead at the scene.
A prosecuting attorney will determine whether the use of deadly force was consistent with Arkansas law.
