Man facing charges for giving drug laced drink to others

A Baxter County man with multiple previous drug arrests is facing new charges after allegedly giving a drink to others that was laced with drugs. Thirty-six-year-old Mark Eugene Jeffries of Gassville is facing two counts of introducing a controlled substance into the body of another person, a class Y felony, the most serious crime in Arkansas not punishable by the death penalty.

According to the probable cause affidavit from the Mountain Home Police Department, officers were called to a residence for an overdose. The two residents of the home told police Jeffries had come to their house and told them to take a drink of his purple drink he had in a water bottle, which they did.

Both were transported to Baxter Health and later released. During later interviews, one of them admitted they didn’t know what the drink was, but thought it was alcohol.

Police were able to retrieve the bottle and test the contents which tested positive for fentanyl and methamphetamine.

Bond for Jeffries is set at $50,000.

He is also being held on a parole violation.

He has previous arrests for delivery of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, delivery of a controlled substance, furnishing or possessing prohibited articles, theft by receiving and possession of firearms by certain persons.
