Since its inception in 1991, a local organization has had a goal to provide performance opportunities for the many musicians in the Twin Lakes Area and educational experiences for young players and audiences. The Mountain Home Symphony, originally known as Mozark Regional Orchestra, is a volunteer orchestra made up of 50 musicians from northern Arkansas and southern Missouri.
Conductor Bruce Shaver and cellist Russell Tucker will be guests on an upcoming episode of the Talk of the Town on KTLO-FM. He says the one thing the members of the symphony have in common is music.
Listen:
The Mountain Home Symphony performs three to four concerts each year and other significant community events, including the Arkansas State University-Mountain Home graduation ceremony. The group welcomes volunteers of all ages and plays a diverse range of musical styles. Currently, they have a few open positions in certain sections and encourage capable musicians to join.
Tucker says the symphony has served as an outlet for musicians of all ages to be able to exercise their talent in a group setting.

For a future performance this spring, Shaver says the symphony is looking at performing a concert of music from various films and shows.
