A Baxter County woman has been arrested following an alleged theft. Twenty-nine-year-old Samantha Shoemaker of Cotter is currently facing one felony count of theft.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Shoemaker had recently been evicted from a rental property and was to be moved out by August 1, 2023. The property was already furnished prior to Shoemaker moving in and the victim’s daughter noticed Shoemaker had some of those items posted for sale on Facebook.
The victim stated there was approximately $2050 worth of items taken from the home which was there prior to Shoemaker moving in and stated the tenants did not have permission to take. He stated a wooden dining table with leaf and six wooden chairs, a wooden china hutch filled with dining ware, a wooden wardrobe, a queen size bed frame with drawers, a queen mattress and box spring, three cast iron skillets, an air compressor and a sectional couch were taken.
The original “for rent” pictures of the property show the items in the home and screenshots of the for sale listings have been acquired by the Cotter Police Department. The items were listed July 31, 2023 and as of August 21, 2023, the items are still listed.
Shoemaker was booked and released from the Baxter County Detention Center on March 8 and was released on a $2,500 bond.
