The Mountain Home Public Schools Board of Education met Thursday night in regular session, one week earlier since spring break for the district begins on Monday. Before the meeting began, Arkansas State House Representative for District 4 Stetson Painter, presented Guy Berry College & Career Academy Principal Jeff Kincade a citation recognizing and honoring his 29 year educator career. Kincade will be retiring in June of this year.During the facilities update, it was reported the Kindergarten, Nelson-Wilkes-Herron, Pinkston, Hackler and Guy Berry campuses had their access controlled doors completed.

Superintendent Allyson Dewey spoke with KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News about where the funding came from and what the district has left to complete the project.

The access controlled doors will allow administrators lock all of the doors at once within the building, along with alerting staff if a door is being left open. Dewey also states students do have name badges, but not badge entry to the buildings.

In Board action items, the Board approved the budget adjustments for State and Federal funds for the 2023-24 school year. These adjustments reflected additional funds received than initially budgeted. With the addition to the district’s financial staff, a new resolution was approved to allow new employee Donna Harper to be added to list of employees allowed to initiate ACH transmissions.

On the salary schedules which were approved in the February meeting, there was a clerical error. A page in the packet which was approved, was from the previous year and did not have the 2024-25 approved increases on the salary schedule, which included the $2,000 increase across the schedule. The Board voted to approve the revised 2024-25 salary schedules as presented.

The Board approved service agreements for more interventionists for Dyslexia students. The interventionist contracts for Kellye Conly and Kaye Hollingsworth, both former teachers in Mountain Home, were approved by the Board unanimously. The Board also approved a academic services agreement with retired Mountain Home teacher Marsha Partney for ESOL summative testing.
