Mountain Home Christian Academy (MHCA) has achieved provisional accreditation with Cognia, a globally recognized leader in advancing excellence in education.

Cognia accreditation signifies MHCA meets rigorous standards for educational quality and effectiveness. The process involves a comprehensive review of various aspects of the institution, including leadership, teaching and learning, resources and ongoing improvement.

According to a press release from MHCA Administrator Doyne Byrd, MHCA has also been approved to be on the list of private schools in the state of Arkansas eligible to receive Educational Freedom Account (EFA) funding. This approval opens up opportunities for students and their families to access education with increased financial flexibility.

MHCA hosted Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and the Secretary of Education for the state of Arkansas, Jacob Olivia for a tour of the campus and a sit down question and answer session as the Governor visited Mountain Home for Capital of the Day.

Byrd states, “Achieving provisional accreditation with Cognia is a great accomplishment for Mountain Home Christian Academy and we expect to achieve full accreditation in the spring of 2025. This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff, students and the entire school community. We are equally thrilled to be on the approved list for Educational Freedom Account funding, as it broadens access to our exceptional, Bible based educational programs.”

Secretary Olivia said, “During Governor Sanders’ recent Capital for a Day visit to Mountain Home, we had the opportunity to tour Mountain Home Christian Academy. I was impressed with the educators and students at school and am pleased to see the school participate in the Education Freedom Account program. Parents deserve educational options, and thank you, MHCA for being one of those.”

MCHA Board President Jinger Wright added, “It is such an exciting time to be in education in Arkansas and I am especially proud to be a part of MHCA as it continues to grow! The accreditation of MHCA will help your community see the high academic standards we have for our students and the Educational Freedom Accounts provided through the governor’s LEARNS ACT will provide opportunities to families who want choices for their children.”

Mountain Home Christian Academy’s mission is to educate minds, shepherd hearts, and graduate disciples. Mountain Home Christian Academy is a Pre-K-12 grade school that was founded in the late 1970’s as North Central Christian School. In 2007, it was renamed to Mountain Home Christian Academy.
