The projected total solar eclipse is a little less than two weeks from occurring, and Mountain Home city officials have spent several weeks preparing. Mountain Home Parks and Recreation is among the departments as city parks are expected to have more occupation.
Mountain Home’s population is expected to be nearly doubled on April 8, and Parks and Recreation Director Daniel Baxley says he expects several visitors to use the parks for their viewing location.

Baxley says there should be plenty of parking spaces available at the city parks, and he currently doesn’t see a need to expand parking.

Mountain Home Parks and Recreation is offering RV camping for visitors coming to see the eclipse. The cost is $100 per day for a three-day minimum. Tent camping at the city parks will not be allowed. Baxley says reservations are being accepted through April 5 or until spaces are full.

In addition, there will be activities for local youth on the day of the eclipse. Baxley says the L.C. Sammons Youth Center in Cooper Park will be open on April 8.

Children are not required to sign up ahead of time to access the youth center on the day of the eclipse. The cost of a one-day pass is $4.
