A former football coach at Mountain Home High School will be the top administrator at another school district in northwest Arkansas. During its regular meeting on Thursday, the Siloam Springs School Board announced current Assistant Superintendent of Operations Shane Patrick will be promoted to the superintendent’s position this summer.

Patrick is currently in his 30th year as an educator after earning his Bachelor of Science and playing football at Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia. He began his teaching and coaching career at Stuttgart High School in 1994. He later moved to Louisiana to continue his career, and he earned his Master’s degree in curriculum and instruction with a building level administrator certification at Louisiana Tech University in Ruston.

Patrick’s time as Mountain Home High School’s head coach began in 2003. During his seven-year run, the Bombers had a record of 31-43-2, advanced to the playoffs four times and played in their first ever state championship game in 2006.

Patrick was hired as the head coach and associate athletic director at Springdale High School in 2010. Four years later, he moved into an administration role in the Springdale School District.

Patrick’s time at Siloam Springs began in 2019 when he was hired as the district’s director of operations. The next year, he attained his district-level administrator certification from SAU and was promoted to his current position.

Throughout his career, Patrick was selected to coach in two Arkansas High School Coaches Association All-Star games and was elected as the Arkansas Football Coaches Association’s inaugural president. In 2019, he was selected to be the first-ever cohort of the Arkansas Association of Education Administrators Aspiring Superintendent Academy. He was also selected to attend the Arkansas Leadership Academy-Executive Leader Empowerment Program in 2022. A year later, Patrick was inducted into the Southern Arkansas University Educational Leadership Hall of Fame.

Patrick’s first day as Siloam Springs’ superintendent will be July 1. He will succeed Jody Wiggins, who will leave at the end of the current school year to become the new director of the Northwest Arkansas Education Service Cooperative in Farmington.
