A Salesville man was cited after conducting a burn on his residence despite being told not to on muliple occasions. Forty-three-year-old Andrew Holloway faces a misdemeanor count of unlawful burning.

According to the the incident report from the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy was dispatched Friday night to a residence on Arkansas Highway 5 South for an unlawful burning report. The deputy arrived and could reportedly smell the odor of burning plastics.

The deputy met with Salesville Fire Chief Earnest Malloy, who stated his department has been at the residence multiple times for burning trash. Chief Malloy says he was on his way home when he saw smoke and smelled the odor of burning trash. The chief says he has told the homeowner multiple times he needed to stop conducting the burns.

The deputy later made contact with the homeowner, identified as Holloway. Holloway reportedly admitted he knew he wasn’t allowed to burn trash at his residence, and the fire department had responded multiple times for the same issue.

Holloway is scheduled to appear in Baxter County District Court.
