During Thursday night’s monthly meeting, the Mountain Home Public Schools Board of Education named Judy Lawrence as the district’s new Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.
Lawrence will begin her new role on July 1. She currently serves as the principal at Nelson-Wilks-Herron Elementary and has previously served the district as a dean of students, an instructional support teacher, and a classroom teacher.
Board President Lisa House said Lawrence is a wonderful fit for the position. House says, “Judy is an expert in curriculum, but she’s also gifted when it comes to people. I know the other board members agree that she will be a fantastic motivator for our educators, and we look forward to continued academic excellence with her in this role.”
Lawrence was valedictorian of the Mountain Home High School Class of 1992. She has a BSE from the University of Central Arkansas and a master’s in Educational Leadership from Arkansas State University, where she is currently enrolled in the Educational Specialist program.
Lawrence said she looks forward to the new role. She said, “I couldn’t be more excited to serve the district in this new capacity. I have been fortunate to build rich relationships with a number of our wonderful teachers, and I can’t wait to continue getting to know our staff and working alongside them to help our students grow.”
