Twenty art students from Mountain Home High School (MHHS) Career Academies participated in the Arkansas Young Artists Association (AYAA) Competition with 5 students placing. The April 18th event took place in Hot Springs at the Hot Springs Convention Center with students from around the state in attendance.

In the competition, Gracie Cakora placed 2nd in Expressive Sculpture, Mason Hill placed 4th in Abstract Pencil, Cara Jackson placed 4th in Realistic Acrylic, Brooklyn Sturges placed 2nd in Realistic Pencil and Lillian Terpstra placed 3rd in Realistic Watercolor and was an honorable mention for Realistic
Chalk Pastel.
The event is hosted annually by AYAA as part of its ongoing mission to encourage and support the visual arts across the state of Arkansas to all high school students through professional speakers, competitions, exhibitions, and scholarships. The AYAA Competition is an officially sanctioned event by the AAA (Arkansas Activities Association).
