The IRS says Arkansans who didn’t file their tax year 2020 returns could be eligible for nearly $1,000 if they file by May 17th.

Agency officials said around 8,700 Arkansans have not filed their 2020 tax returns and are missing out on a total of $9.3 million in refunds. People have had more time to file than usual due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

There is no penalty for failure to file for residents owed money. However, the refund must be claimed within three years.
