Yellville-Summit’s Moore finishes as top local performer in Arkansas Decathlon, Heptathlon

Six area high school track athletes were among several in Searcy on Wednesday and Thursday. The Arkansas Decathlon and Heptathlon were held on the campus of Harding University.

Yellville-Summit’s KJ Moore was the top local performer in the heptathlon as she finished fifth overall. She had two top five finishes as she was third in the 800-meter run and fourth in the high jump.

Mountain Home had two athletes in the heptathlon. Ali Czanstkowski ended up ninth overall, and her best performance came in the 100-meter hurdles as she took ninth place. Camilla Johnson finished 23rd overall and was 11th in the 100-meter hurdles.

Mountain Home was also represented in the decathlon as Zach Daugherty ended up 22nd overall. Daugherty’s best finish was in the 1500-meter run as he took seventh place.

The decathlon also included two athletes from Melbourne. Shawn Wortham finished 35th overall and was ninth in the discus. Brycen Young ended up 57th overall and took 25th place in the discus and the pole vault.
