Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery gave a noon update on the conditions in Baxter County following the severe weather early Sunday morning.
Sheriff Montgomery reports that, with the help of Izard and Stone counties, they have been making progress on clearing roads. Montgomery says that Arkansas Highway 5 South remains closed at this time.
Sheriff Montgomery says the biggest issue is sight-seers going to view the damage congesting traffic and preventing emergency responders from accessing the area.
The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office has reported one storm-related fatality. The identity of the victim has not been revealed pending notification to next-of-kin.
