An Izard County man succumbed to his injuries following a two-vehicle accident May 25 in Franklin. Sixty-seven-year-old Richard Dorris of Horseshoe Bend was pronounced dead. Eighty-five-year-old Maynard Avery of Violet Hill and three unidentified minors were injured and transported to Baxter Health Fulton County Hospital in Salem.
According to the Arkansas State Police, Dorris was traveling on Arkansas Highway 56, and the minors were his passengers. His vehicle reportedly crossed the center line and collided head-on with another vehicle driven by Avery.
The road was dry, and the weather was clear at the time of the 8:39 a.m. accident.
