Area athletes, coaches make All-Arkansas Preps teams

A few area athletes and coaches were honored at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock. The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette presented its All-Arkansas Preps Awards Banquet on Saturday, and the guests of honor were members of the Arkansas Razorback basketball team that captured the national championship in 1994.

Mountain Home had two athletes make the tennis team. Pierce Blackmon and Finley Chafin represented the Bombers on the boys’ list.

Two area athletes are being recognized from the football season. Mountain Home’s Barrett Miller and Salem’s Keagan Sanderson made the sophomore team.

The track and field teams included one athlete and one coach from the Twin Lakes Area. Zach Daugherty of Mountain Home made the boys’ team, and April Martin represented Yellville-Summit as the girls’ coach of the year.

Another area coach was honored by the Democrat-Gazette. Salem’s J.W. Blevins was named the coach of the year for golf.

Two area athletes were recognized from the soccer season. Kyle Corners of Mountain View made the boys’ first team, and Mia Barrett of Harrison is on the girls’ second team.

Harrison had another athlete honored for her efforts on the volleyball court. Reese Ricketts represents the Lady Goblins on the second team.
