A Boone County man was arrested following reports of assault. Thirty-one-year-old Jacob Tapprich is facing charges of aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a minor.
According to the probable cause affidavit, on March 29, officers from the Harrison Police Department responded to a residence for a report of a possible assault. Upon arrival, officers spoke with Tapprich, who stated he and his girlfriend had gotten into a verbal argument over stolen makeup. He explained his girlfriend had gotten so upset she picked up an elephant lamp and smashed it on the floor. Tapprich said he went into the bathroom, where his girlfriend followed him and proceeded to grab him by the neck and choke him. While choking him, he claimed she was yelling into his face and bit his ear. Tapprich provided authorities with a short video of the incident.
At approximately seven on the evening of March 30, deputies received a call from North Arkansas Regional Medical Center regarding a domestic dispute from the night before. The victim, identified as Tapprich’s girlfriend, had multiple marks, cuts and bruises from the incident. The victim claimed Tapprich had beat her up, choked her, and rammed her car with his vehicle while her two children were inside.
The victim stated she and Tapprich had gotten into a verbal argument where he accused her of stealing makeup from Walmart. She showed him the receipt to prove she did not, but he stated he didn’t believe her and began yelling at her to come to the bedroom. Due to past abusive incidents, she explained she knew she would get physically hurt, so she refused. Tapprich then allegedly grabbed her by the arm and tried pulling her into the bedroom. She said he overpowered her and started choking her. She claimed as she was trying to kick Tapprich off, she got hit by something in her face and blacked out. When she regained consciousness, she was able to get away from Tapprich.
The victim stated that Tapprich cornered her in the bedroom and blocked the doorway. He allegedly picked up an elephant lamp and threw it towards her when it hit her and shattered. The victim stated that is how she got the mark on her back. She told authorities when she tried to get around Tapprich, he threw her to the ground and got on top of her. He started choking her to where she couldn’t breathe. Tapprich allegedly took her phone and went into the bathroom. She told authorities the video Tapprich showed officers the night before was from when she followed him into the bathroom, yelling at him to give her back her phone.
The victim stated after the incident, Tapprich’s parents knew he was the problem and helped the victim pack her things, but Tapprich was unhappy his parents were siding with the victim.
The victim told officers that Tapprich allegedly broke the key to her car off in the ignition switch. She said when she arrived at Tapprich’s parents’ house, Tapprich rammed his truck into the side of her car with her and her two kids inside, causing damage to her car and the neighbor’s driveway. The victim said she became more concerned for the safety of herself and her kids, so she left.
Tapprich was booked and released from the Boone County Detention Center where he faces two felony counts of aggravated assault on a family or household member and two felony counts of first-degree endangering the welfare of a minor. He was released on a $10,000 bond and was ordered no contact with the victim.
