As of Tuesday morning, Mountain Home Public Schools Board of Education member Bob Chester, has resigned.
Superintendent Allyson Dewey spoke with KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News to discuss Chester’s resignation.

Dewey says they will be following district policy 1.2 to make an appointment to Chester’s seat.

The District has 30 days to make the appointment and the person selected will serve until the next school board election.

Dewey released a statement Tuesday mornings saying, “This morning Mr. Bob Chester, a member of the Mountain Home Public Schools Board of Education, resigned from his position. At this time, the remaining Board members will follow district policy 1.2 to appoint a new member to complete Mr. Chester’s term. We have 30 days to make this appointment. As superintendent, I want to wish Mr. Chester all the best in his future endeavors, and I want to thank him for his service to our local students for the last two years.”

KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News received an email from Chester Tuesday morning stating, “During the recent executive board meeting, Mr. Booth initiated a discussion about his opinion on how the current FOIA lawsuit should be handled. This action itself could be interpreted as another FOIA violation. Fortunately, Superintendent Dewey quickly and wisely redirected the conversation to the order of business at hand, which pertained to personnel matters.”

When asked about the statement, Dewey stated she cannot comment on anything that happens in executive session.

In a statement from Chester, he quoted First Corinthians, chapter 6, verse one.

KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot News reached out to Scott Booth for comment, but he was unavailable at the time of publication.

Chester’s Email to Board Members and the Media

Dear School Board Members,

I hope this message finds you well. As a concerned citizen deeply invested in the integrity and transparency of our school board, I am writing to express my concerns regarding potential FOIA violations that occurred at a recent executive board meeting.

During the recent executive board meeting, Mr. Booth initiated a discussion about his opinion on how the current FOIA lawsuit should be handled. This action itself could be interpreted as another FOIA violation. Fortunately, Superintendent Dewey quickly and wisely redirected the conversation to the order of business at hand, which pertained to personnel matters.

I would like to remind all board members that this email is being sent to the entire group and also members of the media for transparency. To ensure compliance with FOIA regulations do not respond to this group email.

Thank you for your attention to this matter. It is crucial that you uphold the highest standards of transparency and integrity in all your proceedings.

Best regards,

Bob Chester
