A Marion County woman is accused attempting to convince her teenage daughter to stay silent with her allegations of the mother’s boyfriend inappropriately touching her last year. Thirty-nine-year-old Amber Woods was booked and released from the Marion County Law Enforcement Center Friday on a charge of tampering.

According to the probable cause affidavit from an investigator with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the Arkansas Crimes Against Children Division received a hotline report Sept. 11 of a 17-year-old female being touched inappropriately by her mother’s boyfriend at their residence in Bull Shoals. The victim claimed the first occasion was during the previous winter in her bedroom. She reportedly woke up to the 46-year-old male, who was not identified in the affidavit, in bed with her. The teen, who was 16 at the time, says she scooted him away and told her mother, identified in the affidavit as Woods, about the incident. The male reportedly told Woods the victim was having a dream, and nothing was done.

The second alleged incident occurred two days before the hotline report. The teen reportedly woke up around 4:30 that morning to the male again touching her inappropriately. When she attempted to exit the bed, he allegedly grabbed her by the waist, held her and told her not to tell her mother, or it would be “really bad.” The victim claims she received a text message from Woods the next day asking her not to tell anyone.

Woods’ bond was set at $2,500.
