The Arkansas Department of Finance Administration (DFA) has announced they are reducing credit card processing fees for all Revenue Office transactions across the state.
Prior to this change, credit card processing fees were 2.75% with a two dollar minimum. The change will drop fees down to 1.6% with no minimum. The DFA expects these changes will save Arkansans over $2 million annually.
In addition to the fee reduction, the DFA is working to replace existing, outdated payment terminals in Revenue Offices with more than 800 new devices. The new, modern chip readers are expected to improve customer experience and reduce potential fraud. These new machines will be fully deployed by the end of the year.
Jim Hudson, DFA Secretary, says “Governor Sanders consistently asks her Cabinet to find creative ways to streamline services and save Arkansans money. We evaluated the charged to our customers and saw that we had an opportunity to reduce fees for credit card transactions. We owe our customers a great experience with as little cost to them as possible. The steps announced today will save our revenue office customers more than $2.4 million per year and eliminate frustrating interactions with outdated technology.”
