The body of the deceased male located Thursday in Moccasin Creek has been identified as a Mountain Home man. Baxter County Sheriff John Montgomery says the remains were determined to be those of 50-year-old Rickey Joe Millsap through a fingerprint scan, and his next of kin has been informed of his death.

Millsap’s body was first discovered just after 8 Thursday morning. Sheriff Montgomery says deputies responded when a motorist driving along Arkansas Highway 5 South observed a body floating in the creek at the Baxter/Izard County line.

Deputies along with other first responders found a nude adult male decomposing body floating in the creek. A Mountain Home officer responded with a drone to see if any other evidence could be seen, but nothing was found.

The investigation continues as Millsap’s body is at the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s Office in Little Rock for an autopsy to determine manner and cause of death.
