Dog rescued from sinkhole in southwest Missouri

A dog in southwest Missouri was rescued after being discovered in a sinkhole Saturday in southwest Missouri. The Husky mix is reportedly stable with minor injuries and is being cared for at the Joplin Humane Society.

According to a Facebook post from Webb City Animal Control, a Carterville resident located the dog in the sinkhole near Daugherty Street and East Road between Carterville and Webb City. Members of the Webb City Fire Department to rescue the dog and were assisted by the Carterville Fire Department.

The Husky mix was wearing a blue collar with no tag or microchip. Anyone with information about the dog should call 417-623-3642, extension 119.
