A Gamaliel woman was recently arrested after being found at a local cemetery claiming to attempt to ignite a fire. Thirty-year-old Elizabeth Chandler was booked Tuesday into the Baxter County Detention Center.

According to an incident report, two Baxter County deputies went to the Lower Oakland Cemetery on County Road 390 Tuesday night for a welfare check on a female that had been laying on the property. Upon arrival, a female was observed sitting slumped forward in the back of the cemetery next to the tree line with food, an open beer container, a marijuana container and other belongings. She reportedly claimed she was attempting to start a fire in an effort to “channel the spirits.”

When asked for her information, the woman would only say her name was Liz and asked what law she had broken. A deputy told her she was drinking in public, and she argued and claimed it wasn’t illegal.

After refusing to give more information, one of the deputies told the female she was being arrested for drinking in public and obstruction, but she reportedly said she wasn’t being arrested because she is God. She refused to stand up and stated her name was Elizabeth Siezchula. She started fighting a deputy who then took her to the ground. After refusing to place her hands behind her back, she was reportedly tased. The female submitted and was placed in restraints.

At the Baxter County Detention Center, the female again stated her name was Elizabeth Siezchula. A check of records revealed her real name was Elizabeth Chandler.

Chandler is facing charges of possession of a controlled substance, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, drinking in public and two counts of obstructing governmental operations. Her bond is at $2,285.
