So far, 2024 has been teetering back and forth with precipitation being above average in one month and below average the next month. August followed that trend with below-average rainfall as the month’s total did not even reach one inch, and no records were broken during the month.
At KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot, the official reporting station for the National Weather Service in Mountain Home, the total rainfall for August was .97. That is 2.77 inches below the month’s average of 3.74.
Despite the dry month, the Twin Lakes Area remains well above average of precipitation during the first eight months of the year. A total of 38.81 inches has been recorded through the end of August. That is 4.17 inches above the period’s average of 34.64.
The warmest temperature recorded last month was 97 degrees on Aug. 7, and the coolest was 58 on Aug. 22 and 23. The average high for the month was 88.7 degrees, and the average low was 67.5 for the second consecutive month.
