Four area residents were transported to Baxter Health and to Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains following a two-vehicle crash Aug. 30 in Mammoth Spring, and two have since succumbed to their injuries. The Arkansas State Police reports 77-year-old Terry Stubbs of Mammoth Spring and 65-year-old Deloris Bookout of Violet Hill were later pronounced dead, and 56-year-old Jeffrey Bookout and 74-year-old Jerry Bookout of Violet Hill were also injured.

According to the Mammoth Spring Police Department, Stubbs failed to stop at the stop sign at Arkansas Highway 289’s intersection with Arkansas Highway 9.
