MHHS boys finish 3rd at Bolivar to open cross country season

The season started Saturday for the Mountain Home High School cross country teams as they were among a few in the area competing in the Southwest Cross Country Association Richard Clark Invitational in Bolivar, Mo.

The Bombers finished third in the boys’ 5k. Nixa won the event, and West Plains was second. Dora ended up 29th, and Branson took 32nd place.

Individually for Mountain Home, Jackson Free finished third in a time of 15:41.88, and Connor King and Garrett Barr were ninth and 10th, respectively. Trevin Smith was West Plains’ top individual performer as he ended up 12th. Cade Nold led Dora as he took 44th place.

The Lady Bombers were led on the girls’ side by Cisily Goettler as she finished 26th. West Plains won the girls’ 5k as they were led by individual runner-up Emily Ritter. Dora was 24th and led by Isabelle Martin in 116th place.

Mountain Home also had an eighth grader in the boys’ 2500-meter run. Oakley Recktenwald ended up fourth in 8:41.42.
