Historic steam locomotive to make several appearances in the Natural State

Union Pacific’s Big Boy No. 4014, the world’s largest operating steam locomotive, is returning to Arkansas this week as part of the “Heartland of America Tour.”

Starting back on August 28th in Cheyenne, Wyoming, this iconic locomotive is taking a eight-week tour across the heartlands of America. Big Boy No. 4014 will make appearances in Arkansas, Colorado, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Texas.

No. 4014 is the only operating Big Boy left of the remaining eight in existence.

This historic locomotive while take it’s first Natural State stop in the tour on Friday, September 13th in Piggott. No. 4014 will arrive at Jackson St. Crossing at 1:30 P.M. and depart at 2.

Next, the steam locomotive will head to Hickory Ridge on Saturday. No. 4014 will arrive at Laurel St. Crossing at 10:30 A.M., then head to Central Delta Depot Museum in Brinkley for a 12:15 P.M. arrival. The last stop of the day will be at Pine Bluff Museum Depot in Pine Bluff for a 3:00 P.M. arrival.

On Sunday, the train will be available for public viewing at Union Pacific Railroad in North Little Rock from 5 P.M. to 7 P.M. before making it’s last stop in Arkansas in Kingsland at Maple St. Crossing for a 11:45 A.M. arrival.

When Big Boy No. 4014 departs Kingsland, the locomotive will set of for Dallas, Texas for it’s next leg of the “Heartland of America Tour.”
