Area cross country teams, athletes shine in Alton Invitational

A few area cross country teams and their athletes had a good showing Wednesday at the Alton Invitational.

Dora won the team title in the high school girls’ race. Gainesville freshman Jessica Suit was the individual champion as she crossed the line in 20:59.5. Dora had three in the top 10 as Isabelle Martin finished fourth, Haley Perkins was eighth, and Kayden Jones ended up ninth. Keely Stevens had Bakersfield’s top performance as she took 38th place.

In the high school boys’ race, Gainesville finished third, and Dora was fourth. The win was captured by Van Buren. Dora senior Cade Nold was the top individual runner as his time was 17:49.9. For Gainesville, Archer Luna ended up fourth, and Isaac Pippin took seventh place. Tyler Hodgson led Bakersfield as he finished 25th.

Gainesville was the winning team in the junior high girls’ race. Individually, Dora’s Kinsen Mitchell was the runner-up, and Annabell Snelson ended up fourth.

Gainesville took fourth place in the team standings of the junior high boys’ race as the victory went to Thayer. Gainesville’s top runner was Aiden Thome as he finished fourth.
