The Izard County Sheriff’s Office is notifying the public of a new scam in the area.

According to a Facebook post, the Izard County Sheriff’s Office says they received a call with the caller ID showing “ICPD” with a private number. The caller identified themselves as Chief Deputy Davidson and stated the person had an arrest warrant and wanted payment.

Authorities state the caller gave directions to a place where a gift card or money order could be obtained and how the information could be given to the caller. They stated there was a gag order in place and the person they called could not tell anyone about the call or warrant.

The Sheriff’s Office advises the public to be cautious of any calls where someone is asking for a gift card or money order and then asks to give them the information over the phone.

Anyone receiving a call like this should call the Izard County Sheriff’s Office at 870-368-4203 and ask to speak to a deputy.
