A Boone County man has been charged with fleeing and endangering the welfare of a child following a high-speed chase with law enforcement Wednesday night.

According to a press release from Sheriff Roy Martin, the Boone County Sheriff’s Office received a report Wednesday night at approximately 8:30 of a motorcyclist who fled from officers attempting to stop him.

The suspect, 29-year-old Robert Culver, Jr. of Omaha, led law enforcement down a county road for approximately a mile and a half to a residence, which led officers to discover Culver had fled with his 3-year-old child on the motorcycle with him. Ultimately, Culver crashed his motorcycle at the residence, causing minor injuries to the child. EMS responded to the scene, examined the child, and was released to the mother.

Culver was booked into the Boone County Detention Center, where he was charged with a felony count of fleeing and endangering the welfare of a minor in the 1st degree. He is currently being held on a $25,000 cash-only bond.
