The Mountain Home High School football team was able to wrap up non-conference play unbeaten on Friday. The Bombers doubled up Rolla, Mo., by a final of 50-25.
The Bulldogs struck first nearly 2 1/2 minutes into the contest on a 66-yard touchdown run by Mason Delagazra. Mountain Home tied it up five minutes later on a two-yard carry by Jacob Chenowith. The Bombers took the lead on the first play of the second quarter when Rolla was lined up to punt deep in their own territory, but the ball was snapped over the punter’s head, and Mountain Home was awarded a safety when it went through the back of the end zone. The Bombers padded their lead further as Barrett Miller had touchdown runs of five and 19 yards. The Bulldogs put up another score on the board with a little over a minute left in the half, and the teams went into the locker rooms with Mountain Home up 22-13.
The Bombers went up further early in the third quarter on a 25-yard touchdown pass from Brantlee Phillips to Talan Palmer. Rolla scored again with less than a minute-and-a-half left in the period, but Mountain Home answered exactly one minute later when Jacob Bellomy ran it in from 53 yards out. The Bombers scored again nearly two minutes into the final period when Chenowith took the delayed handoff and ran for 64 yards. After the Bulldogs put up one more touchdown with less than five minutes left, Mountain Home would get the last score of the game just over two minutes later on a two-yard run by Dawson Dunlap.
The Bombers, who finished with 432 rushing yards on the night, improves to 3-0 on the season. Rolla falls to 2-2.
Mountain Home will begin their 6A-West slate next week when they go to Fort Smith to meet Southside.
