The Baxter County Historical Society will hold their monthly meeting Tuesday night at 6 in the Knox Room of the Donald W. Reynolds Library serving Baxter County.
The meeting will feature speaker Charles Hammett, a Civil War historian and retired educator from Mountain Home Public Schools. He will give a presentation on “Finding and Exploring Your Family Story” from the Civil War to the early 1900s. Hammett’s discussion will have an emphasis on basic resources for tracing family history.
Sonny Sharp from the Baxter County Historical Society, says will be a great resource while also being entertaining.

The Historical Society has also begun working with members of the Arkansas Historic Preservation Program toward grant funding for needed repairs on the historic Casey House at the Fairground. The Casey House is the oldest building in Mountain Home and was constructed by Col. Randolph Casey, one of the earliest settlers to the area in 1858. It was placed on the National Register in 1975.
