After nearly 30 years after her disappearance, the Alma Police Department said in a press conference Tuesday morning, that DNA evidence links the abduction of Morgan Nick.

Alma Police Chief Jeff Pointer said during the briefing that a hair collected from Billy Jack Linck’s pickup truck “strongly indicates” Nick was inside his truck.

Linck died in prison in 2000. Morgan Nick has never been found.

“Where is Morgan now?” Pointer asked Tuesday.

He said police plan to interview and re-interview possible witnesses and asked for the public to call 1-800-THE-LOST with any information that could help in the investigation.

Despite her disappearance nearly 30 years ago, Morgan Nick’s mother said Tuesday that her daughter’s light still shines on.

“He stole Morgan from me, her dad, Logan and Taryn. He didn’t see that he could never win. Because our love for Morgan – her memory, her voice – outlasted his life,” Colleen Nick said. “That love continues to shine. Morgan’s heart shines on.”

She said “an army of supporters, advocates, and heroes” have dedicated their lives to uncovering the truth about her disappearance.

Following Tuesday’s announcement, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders offered her support to the Nick family:

“Bryan and I are praying for Morgan’s family and the thousands of people who have been touched by this heartbreaking case. Thank you to the members of the Alma Police Department, the Arkansas State Police, and every law enforcement agency that brought light to this case through 29 years of unyielding effort. My deepest gratitude is for Colleen Nick, who mobilized her grief to create the Morgan Nick Foundation and help prevent other families from going through the same unimaginable tragedy.”

Morgan Nick disappeared from the Alma Little League Ball Field on the night of June 9, 1995.

Three years later, Alma detectives sent the evidence to Othram Laboratory in Texas for analysis.

“On Sept. 27, 2024, Othram Laboratory sent a report to Detective Shawn Taylor stating, in essence, that they determined that hair contained in the evidence submitted for analysis was that of Colleen Nick, one of her siblings, or one of her children,” Pointer said.

The chief said that evidence tested “strongly indicates” that Morgan Nick was inside Lincks’ truck.
