The Mountain Home High School football team was able to bounce back after suffering its first loss of the year a week ago. The Bombers were able to spoil Russellville’s homecoming with a 34-14 victory.

Mountain Home was able to put two scores up on the board before the Cyclones put their offense on the field. The opening drive of the game ended with a five-yard keeper by Barrett Miller. The ensuing kickoff was a squib by Isaac Ballard and recovered by the Bombers. On the very next play, Jacob Chenowith ran it in from 42 yards out to make it 13-0, and that would be the score for the remainder of the first half.

Russellville picked up its first touchdown 3 1/2 minutes into the second half. Mountain Home responded a minute-and-a-half later as Miller broke several tackles for a 49-yard touchdown run. Miller picked up another score later in the third quarter on a two-yard on. The Cyclones cut into the margin with one more touchdown with less than three minutes left in the game. Russellville’s ensuing onside kick was recovered by the Bombers, and Chenowith ran it in from 50 yards out on the very next play to secure the 20-point win.

Mountain Home ended up with 47 total rush attempts for 308 yards.

The Bombers improve to 5-1 on the season and 2-1 in the 5A-West. The Cyclones fall to 3-3 and 1-2.

Mountain Home will return to Bomber Stadium next week as they host Siloam Springs for homecoming.
